Playing with paint…

Hi Ladies

Last week was a brilliant fun week of decorating but not in a traditional way. We’ve been talking about colours for our hall, stairs & landing & it took us months & endless tester pot patches to decide. Thing is we wanted a wall that looked old & worn rather than a fresh paint look. I tried a few more patches at the beginning of the week but actually I just needed to dive in & let it become whatever it turned out to be. H came home the first day, loving it but we both decided it just needed something & so we added a shine to parts & an extra colour & by the end of the next day we were completely in love with how it had evolved. What a fabulous way to spend a few days, playing with paint on the walls of our house knowing that my husband was totally cool with me creating all sorts of tones & textures. How amazingly freeing to play! Now I paused over the Bank Holiday weekend for dates & chill time but this week I’ll get back up my ladder with my pot of about 10 different brushes & get to the bits still the old colour. H is happy to do that super scary high part as you go up the stairs & he’s inspired to make his own mark up there. Hooray for tall men!

Will post pictures when we’re done…

Enjoy the last few days of the summer holidays, Victoria xxx

fresh eyes…

Morning Ladies

Another Monday morning has arrived & it’s March already!  I’ve been very excited about clearing my studio & I’ve found that little spurts of energy in there are actually more productive than whole days getting lost in old photos & sketchbooks.  So, in between phone calls & spreadsheets I’ve had the odd half an hour in my studio & I’ve discovered all sorts of things I’d forgotten about.  Little packets of beads or charms I’d bought & tucked away for a making day or pieces of trim I’d bought because I loved them but had no idea what I would do with them.  Those little half hours have been almost as inspiring as the hours I spend with my fashion magazines every month, it’s exciting to see everything with fresh eyes.  Now, I’m finally managing to organise all the different items into little pots on my new shelving.  The next job is labelling (I really rebel against that much organisation but all those pots look the same in that moment when all I need is a safety pin…)

I’m hoping to get back in there for a sneaky half hour later on…who knows what I’ll find 🙂 Then a trip to the tip……

We’ll be adding pieces to our Etsy shop during March, watch this space for info!

Have a fabulous Monday ladies, Victoria x

we’ve moved…

Hi Ladies

We’ve moved…not physically but virtually…to a new blog home 🙂  I was just about to write a new blog but somehow the old place has lost us…I’m changing all sorts of things up this year & so a new blog home actually makes a lot of sense.  Looking back over the old posts a lot has changed, it feels old to me now & I’m ready for a fresh start….

So, Good morning & welcome to our new home…

Over the last few months I’ve taken some time out & now I’m back to my most favourite thing…beading.  I have loved beading since that very first day (a Tuesday) when I met the tutor at the London College of Fashion who came to teach our costume class beading & embroidery. As soon as I finished that first class I was hooked…& now flash forward 23 years & I’ve got lots of projects on the go…my own designs this time… 🙂

I’m super excited to get back to our Etsy shop & fill it with all my loves.  I’ve decided to not work in collections but to add pieces as I finish them.  I’m a massive fan of all the fashion weeks around the world & their beautiful collections but for my purposes collections are just too restricting. All my pieces take time to design & make so my creative button is pushed when I can switch between colours & themes whenever I’m feeling it 🙂  My studio never looks more interesting to me than when all my pieces are sitting together…a complete mixture of colours & textures, all at different stages.  I love that mixture so I’d love my Etsy shop to have that same feel.

Well, I’d better get back in there, a bit more organising to do to before my studio is the place I love to be in.  Hooray for February & feeling all Spring-like 🙂

Have a fabulous Wednesday ladies, Victoria xx
